Essentials of Lower Extremity Reconstruction Course

The next Essentials of Lower Extremity Reconstruction Course will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, from January 23 to 24, 2026.

The Essentials of Lower Extremity Reconstruction (ELER) course was co-developed by limb deformity surgeons of the Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society: ASAMI-North America (LLRS) and our International Center for Limb Lengthening (ICLL) deformity surgeons, who organize and run our annual Baltimore Limb Deformity Course.

The purpose of this two-day ELER course — a combination of lectures and hands-on skills training — is to teach senior orthopedic residents (PGY3 – 5) and fellows the fundamentals of circular external fixation. Basic biomechanical principles, safe wire and pin placements, and appropriate osteotomy techniques will be presented. Faculty will also discuss patient management during and after fixator application. Full details can be found here on the LLRS website.

Proof of residency/fellowship status is required at time of registration. There is no charge for this course; travel/lodging are the responsibility of the resident/fellow.
