Gait Analysis Using Sophisticated Technology

The International Center for Limb Lengthening is home to the Wasserman Gait Laboratory, the only gait analysis laboratory in the country that specializes in therapy treatment strategies for patients with orthopedic or neuromuscular conditions.

What is gait analysis?

“Gait” refers to the way someone walks. Gait analysis is a biomechanical assessment of a person walking. The Wasserman Gait Laboratory uses sophisticated computer technology to run reports that monitor skeletal alignment, muscle function and forces acting on the body during walking. The result is an objective and complete assessment of walking function.

Why is gait analysis helpful?

Sometimes looking at X-rays and watching a patient walk during a clinic visit are not enough to understand the subtle dynamics of a person walking. More comprehensive information is needed to develop a treatment plan. Your doctors and therapists will use these data to plan effective, customized treatment to improve your outcome.

How can a gait analysis appointment be scheduled?

To schedule an appointment or obtain further information, please call 410-601-5945. Gait analysis takes between 2 and 3 hours to complete. A signed prescription by your physician is required before we can proceed.
